I recommend any of their specials. We didn't get to try their desserts but they have homemade tiramisu and blueberry creme brûlée. Their fried calamari is good but very different. They pair it with banana peppers which I love so it was right up my alley. Their seafood is good but if you get the seafood pasta dish be aware that the salmon with taste more fishy than it normally would since it's made with the muscles.

We just had the most remarkable meal at Marconi's Italian Restaurant. The place is small, quaint and spotless. The menu is large enough to accommodate any taste for Italian food, but is not so large as to be overwhelming. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel like family. From the hostess that seated us, to the owner Marc, everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. All entrees are cooked to order, so it may take a bit longer for the food to arrive than a person is used to, but it is absolutely worth the wait, and the atmosphere at Marconi's is so relaxing and enjoyable that there is no rush to get through your meal. The Bruschetta Pomodorro appetizer was light, refreshing and done perfectly. The Pasta Pescatore is probably the best one I have ever had. All the seafood was perfectly cooked, the salmon was flaky and the mussels absolutely melted in my mouth. The Chicken Parmesan was cooked to perfection and covered with just the right amount of Parmesan and the marinara sauce was full and rich. For dessert, the homemade Tiramisu is perfect! It was smooth and rich and the orange flavor Marconi's has incorporated into their recipe made it a perfect ending for the Pasta Pescatore. The Spumoni is also out of this world! It was light and sweet, and paired perfectly with the Chicken Parmesan. For us, Marconi's is now the "must visit" restaurant whenever we are in Pagosa Springs. Didn't expect authentic Italian food in Colorado this place is worth the stop. I truly suggest stopping here and seeing Christina a well informed fantastic server.

We were welcomed by the chef/ owner with a smile. We were seated quickly and the waitress came over to take our drink order right away. The first course was the spicy calamari which we highly recommend. We ordered the Arrabbiata and Saltimbocca which were both so delicious. This place is not to be missed.

We stopped for lunch later in the day and were seated immediately. It was past the time for the lunch menu so we looked at the dinner and drink menus. I had a Sangria with White Wine and my hubby had a local Craft Beer. They were both delish! The food we ordered was Lasagna and Alfredo fettuccini. The portions were generous and sooo good!! I can't leave this review without mentioning the wait staff. They were friendly and attentive without being too interruptive. I can say we will be back and I would recommend it highly!

Love the food. Baked ziti is excellent as well as the chicken Marsala. We loved all 4 desserts we ordered- chocolate torte, creme brûlée, cheesecake and tiramisu!

The food was good, but my god it came out SLOW. Nor is this a place for very young kids since there is no changing table. We ordered 1 appetizer and a kid's grilled cheese. No joke it took 40 minutes. That is simply unjustifiable. After that, they brought a big salad bowl for the table since everyone's entrees came with salad. That was about 1 hour 10 mins in. If they are going to turn the salad into its own course, which i don't mind, then don't make me sit at an empty table for 40 mins waiting for my appetizer. Bring out the salad. Then the entrees. By the time we got the entrees, my 1 year old was fussy because we'd been sitting so long. And it wasn't as though our order explained why it took nearly 90 mins to get 5 entrees. We basically took most of our food home because our kid couldn't sit for 2 hours and we never thought it could take 2 hours to dine here. We ordered quickly and didn't even order wine since the selection is pretty terrible. Maybe next time will be better...

Really average Italian food, but I give it two stars because it's overpriced for what it is.

I tried to think of ways to give it two stars. Maybe the ambiance? So, we were "warned" that our food would take a while since it's made to order. Ok, no prob. Literally? 45 minutes before we received our totally sub par dishes. I had the chicken Marsala. Tough chicken & very watery, gravy like slop. I thought a dessert would save the day, but omg. That, itself, took almost 20 minutes. I ordered Tiramisu. It was soaked additionally in some sort of orange glaze, tasted like day old bread & wax & had nuts on it :( I was so mad I had to pay for that food. I think it ranks high because locals like it and may not have much to compare it to? The presentation was ok, but it ended there. Would not recommend. Sorry :(

We loved everything about Marconi's. The food was delicious. The server was kind, friendly, and helpful. The portions were large. My husband and I ended up splitting a dish which was perfect for us and left room for an appetizer, salad, and bread. The fried mozzarella was delicious. Worth the trip.

Wow! All I can say is this place keeps going downhill. I used to eat here all the time back when it was Bacci's. I am a local and have been here three times hoping it would get better or that maybe they were having a bad day. Every time I go, the food gets worse. You can tell they keep finding ways to cut corners. I definitely won't be eating here again. We were seated quickly at a dirty sticky table. The bread served before dinner had no flavor and was stale, which is the way it has always been. We each ordered a sangria. This is one of the things they kept on the menu that was still good. Not any more. It tasted like watered down Sprite. I couldn't taste or feel any alcohol, although I will say the presentation was nice. The salad was ok, just a little too much dressing making it soggy. I got the chicken marsala which was bland and dry. My date got the pizza which was the best thing we ordered. We each got desert. Blueberry crème brulee. I am not sure how they made this, but the blueberries seemed like they had been frozen and all the ice had melted into the crème brulee making it soggy and inedible. The tiramisu was the worst I have ever had. It was extremely soggy and tasted bland. After about 3 bites towards the middle I got a big bite of what tasted like sour milk. UUUgggghh! I had my date try it and he said it was definitely bad. What a way to end a meal. Too bad they didn't stick to using Bacci's recipes. I have never written a review in my life, but it was so frustrating to spend money on horrible food. This place won't last long that's for sure.

I am only rating their "to go" pizza. I went because a local said they have the best pizza in Pagosa Springs. Sorry Pagosa Springs. The pizza was ready when I arrived as promised. The manager came out with the pizza and offered me some $1.00 off coupons to use later because the pizza came out small (he was right). I thanked him and turned them down as we were leaving the next day. He made no offer to reduce the price on the small pizza that I paid a large price for. The pizza was so-so, not good not bad, Kinda reminded me of a cross between Domino's and Papa John's. Will not be back.

Excellent hand tossed pizza with large salad in big wooden bowl. Excellent service. Clean. It was the end of the night which is always scarey but they treated us like the first customer of the day.

Really nice meal & great service. It is a cozy place without a lot of seating so if you are on schedule call ahead for reservation. Everything we had was fresh & prepared to order. The sweet & spicy calamari appetizer was very good. The salmon piccata & seafood pasta were great. With the salad that came with the meal we had no room for dessert...but they looked great!

We stopped in a night before we made dinner at our condo. The place was just emptying out as it was close to closing. We went up to the bar for a couple drinks. Mark (the owner) was bartending. He was very friendly and helpful. He gave suggestions for the next day as we mentioned that we didn't have plans. He directed us out of town to an amazing trail with beautiful views! After our awesome day of hiking we came back for dinner. There was a small wait but Linda at the door was happy to get us a seat at the bar while we waited. Keri (general manager) made us another delicious round of drinks and before we had even finished that our table was ready. Our meal came with fresh bread served with roasted garlic in an olive oil and basalmic vinegar, delightful! The house salad with the homemade lemon vinegarette didn't disappoint either! I had spaghetti bolegnese and my friend had the lasagne with a thick cut slice of breaded eggplant. They were melt in your mouth delcious. The marinara sauce is full of flavor and you can tell everything is prepared fresh. Before we came we saw some reviews regarding the wait for a seat and wait on food to come out... for food prepared as expertly as Mark and his staff make...it's worth the wait! Thank you for an amazing evening and a wonderful Pagosa Springs experience! We will visit again!

The calamari was fried in old oil, the salad had 2 hairs and the service was slow. But the entrees were awesome and the desserts were amazing.

I ordered the cheese pizza and loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooved it! The amount of pizza seasoning was perfect, and so was the cheese, like (I'm pretty sure, I couldn't really tell) like the sauce! I highly recommend it.YUM!

We had a magical evening there and it was totally unexpected, since, coming from the Las Vegas area, we have no shortage of spectacular dining opportunities. My husband loves calamari and theirs did not disappoint -- among the 3 Best Ever. We tried both versions: the marinara and the sweet-hot version with peppers in the sauce (to die for, and totally original). The complimentary salad is fresh, lightly tossed in a wonderful dressing, served family style in an attractive wooden bowl. Husband loves lasagna -- he had the meat version and gobbled it up in record time. Although I'm as carnivorous as they come, I had the vegetarian lasagna and it was fantastic -- off-the-charts -- could not stop eating it. Everyone from the hostess, to the servers, to the manager was friendly and welcoming. We will absolutely come back. There's so much more we want to try!

We just returned from a week in beautiful Pagosa Springs, CO. The highlight of our trip was Marconi's! In a week's time, we paid 3 visits to this wonderful establishment. We just couldn't get enough of the great food and the beautiful people! The owners, Linda and Mark, really make you feel like one of the family, and we are so grateful to have met them and found this little slice of heaven! The manager, Kerry is a delight and went well out of her way to make us feel welcome and took special care of us each visit. Yes, the place is small, but so is every other restaurant in Pagosa. Trust me, it's well worth the wait. (Plus, they are expanding and adding a patio this next year.) Everything we had was amazing, but the sweet and spice calamari was absolutely TO. DIE. FOR!! Truly the best I've had ANYWHERE. As others have said, you can make a meal out of the salad (served family style) and the wonder bread. After the calamari, bread and salad, we really had no room for our entrees. After only a few bites, we packed them up...with some tiramisu and took it all with us to our vacation rental for dinner another night. (I guess that means we ate Marconi's 4 times during our week.) The chicken saltimbocca was stellar and prepared perfectly. We had the pleasure of meeting Grant, the head chef. He is a master at what he does! If you are in Pagosa Springs, you simply have to visit Marconi's. It will be the highlight of your vacation. Thanks guys for a wonderful time!

I'm 7000 ft above my normal level of elevation. This is a small town compared to the giant city that I'm used to. Yet, this one Italian restaurant reminded me that good food can be found in any little area. At first glance, the restaurant seemed empty and lacking in originality of the decor. I ordered the chicken marsala, a simple enough dish. They wonderful and polite waitress brought out the bread. It was pretty bad bread. This made me fear what was to come of my main meal. However, the Caesar salad was not bad at all. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion and taste that came out. It was sweet and salty in the best kind of ways. The chicken was tender and melted in my mouth. It was a delicious and filling dish that I would definitely recommend for anyone visiting this spunky little town.

Food is good, prices a little bit expensive in my opinion. Salads and soups were good. The bread they served it wasn't fresh at all. The service is ok. But comparing the restaurants standards we have in The Metroplex (DFW area) Texas... You will get very disappointed... We appreciated the food in Dallas Texas!! So in conclusion... Prices vs quality it doesn't match.

The food is not bad. The Caesar salad is crisp and tasty and the blueberry creme brûlée was great. Otherwise, we didn't care for the lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo or pizza. The people are super nice.

Had the most awesome experience here! Wait staff was great and friendly. We ordered half "The Duke" pizza and half Margarita pizza. Beyond delicious! Mark was amazing and even apologized for our horrible experience at Boss Hogs. Definitely a place to eat and enjoy!

Unfortunately as much as I want to love this place, it's not great Italian. They are getting better and hopefully under new management they will turn in to my new favorite place to go.

This is a family run business. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food is great! My favorite is the Chicken Parm with Pasta and only Alfredo sauce. And they have great Sangrias and a Blueberry Mojito! Dont be shocked by the sticker price because you will get more food than you can eat.

This is our favorite restaurant in PS! We have visited this restaurant several times during family ski trips and each time, the service has been friendly and fantastic. Our family orders several menu items and shares since all of the food is excellent and it is difficult to decide. This is a relaxing restaurant to visit after a day on the slopes....or it is also a great place to carb load the day before hitting the slopes!Highly recommend!

This place exceeded my expectations for a Pagosa Springs restaurant. We ordered Calamari Fritto for an appetizer and it was definitely in my top 5 that I've had. For dinner I ordered Chicken Parm with Fettuccine Alfredo instead of Spaghetti. Let me tell you, it was a little orgasmic lol. Definitely will be back. Also, the service was on point.

I went here with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. We called the day before and set a time slot (they don't call it a reservation). We arrived there and was greeted by the owner. He was very friendly and you can tell he cares about his business. They had our table reserved and we were sat immediately. I ordered the baked Ziti and a lemon drop martini and My boyfriend ordered the fettuccine arrabbiata. We both agreed that this was the best Italian food we ever had. Everything tasted homemade and unique. The restaurant had a great ambiance and the service was good. I would recommend coming here and wish it was closer to me.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
